Did you know monarch butterflies are the only kind of butterflies to make a two way migration. They go down south for the winter, like birds, and then they come back up north for the summers. That’s pretty amazing! They know when to move south based on environmental cues.

Your little munchkin doesn’t fly south for the winter. No, she seems to like the chilly weather, even when she takes her gloves off, and her cute little fingers get chilly. She likes the snow, but she likes the spring flowers in the garden even more. She could sit out there all day as you plant rows of tulips, playing in the potting soil. And ever since you planted the butterfly milkweed, she won’t stay away from it!

She loves the butterflies so much. In fact she pretends to be one when she is outside with you. Put this Toddler Monarch Butterfly Costume on her, and watch as she runs around the garden pretending to be one of the most amazing butterflies. She will “flap” her wings, really they will flap themselves as she runs, and bounces around. The milkweed will draw her to it, just like it draws the other monarchs. Let’s just hope she doesn’t start trying to migrate south for the winter. While it might be nice to winter in Central Mexico, it might get a little expensive to do every year!
