Mr. Ed. Bojack Horseman. The horses from My Little Pony. Talking horses have been a staple of American television dating back almost six decades. Their frank homespun insights have been a font of knowledge to us all. Why do you think it’s called horse sense? Who else but a horse could tell you useful things like how to pull carts and wagons? How to eat sugar cubes? How to stand around and twitch your tail sometimes so flies don’t land on your haunches? We’d be lost without the helpful things horses tell us on the TV.

And at the top of that list of great talking horses is Pokey himself from Gumby. Pokey was Gumby’s other half, a grounded, skeptical, practical pal who balanced out Gumby’s somewhat cavalier approach to life. Pokey bailed Gumby out of trouble a lot -- and, to Gumby’s credit, he returned the favor just as often. In fact, Gumby first met Pokey when he saved the guy’s life by freeing him from a train track just in the nick of the time. Good thing too, or Pokey would have gone splatty.

If you want to be a famous horse, don’t want to break character by talking, and look good in orange, you simply have no other choice but to dress up as Pokey this year. This costume is designed so you can still see, just like a real horse, and also so you’ll still have use of your hands, which our research department informs us horses don’t have.
