Why are Toga parties so great? When we were younger, we just assumed that everyone loved them because all you had to do was wrap a sheet around your body and BOOM - ready to party! But as we got older, we learned some stuff…the real reason toga parties are so popular is because they’re supposed to be modeled after the legendary gatherings in old Rome, and let us tell you: Those things? Were WILD.
The original toga parties were called the Bacchanalia (or Bacchanal, as it’s sometimes referred to in modern language and literature), and they started out as Roman festivals of Bacchus, the Greco-Roman god of wine, freedom, intoxication, and ecstasy (in other words, the dude was not for lame brains). These festivals were held in strict privacy and most scholars claim that the earliest version was open to women only, and then a nocturnal version was established, which added wine and feasting to the mix, and thus acquired an “enthusiastic” following of women and men (don’t make us spell it out for you). Thus: Paaaaaaarrrrttttyyyyy!
Anyway, the point is: If you ignore all the slaving and burning and crucifying that the Romans are also known for, the toga is synonymous with having a good time! So wear this Men's Plus Size Toga Costume to your next toga party with pride, dip that golden chalice into some grape wine, and get ready to party like it's 753 BC!
